Prof. Olugbenga A. Ehinola is CUSCAF 2021 plenary session main speaker for Geology and Mineral Sciences. Prof. O.A. Ehinola is a Professor of Petroleum Geology and Environmental Geology at the University of Ibadan. He graduated from University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1990 with a B.Sc. degree in Geology, and obtained an M.Sc degree in Petroleum/Sedimentology and a Ph.D degree in Petroleum/Environmental Geology at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1995 and 2002 respectively. He was a Dutch Academiche Schoolar (DAAD) at the University of Tuebingen in 1999. He did his postdoctoral research on the thermodynamics of minerals at the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing from 2006-2007. He had a sabbatical fellowship at Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Port-Harcourt in 2009 to 2010.

While at the Surveys, he obtained his M.Sc degree in Mineral exploration 1990 from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and a PhD in Economic geology from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 2001 during which he undertook study visits to Universities in Europe. He joined the Department of Geology University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in April 2002 on transfer of service and has been teaching there since then. In the course of his academic sojourn, he has attended and delivered conference papers in virtually all the continents of the world and has over 68 publications to his credit in peer reviewed international and local Journals and refereed Conference proceedings. He was promoted a full Professor of Geology on October 1, 2011

He was a visiting scholar to the Research Center for Environmental and Eco-toxicology Sciences, Beijing in 2008 and IPE, CAS in 2012. He won the NMGS-TOTAL paper presentation award, 2nd prize in 2003 and also in 2004. His team won the Petroleum Technology Development Fund oil and gas research grants 2008-2010, and MacArthur Research grant 2010-2012. Also, his team won the SHELL (SNEPCO) / Local Content Initiative Project for the development of local material for synthetic based fluid for drilling in 2014-2016. He is member of several Professional Associations such as NMGS, NAPE, AAPG, IAS, NAH, PAN, AAAPG, SAN, SEG, NAEGE, GSAF, IMGA, etc., and had published over 100 papers. He is a dedicated and creative scientist who has used his deep knowledge and technical expertise to resolve difficult technical questions for some companies in Nigeria and outside the country. He is a team player and an innovative mentor for younger scientists.

On several occasions, he led the University of Ibadan students to many Geoscience competitions as Faculty advisor with several awards being won. For instance, NAPE-NMGS Mini-Conference best paper oral presentation for 2018 at Effurun, Schlumberger Plug-in competition in 2014 (First Position with a prize of $5000.00), and Quiz Competition of NAPE-NMGS Mini-Conference 2016. He has been attending virtually all NMGS conferences and Chapter meetings since he joined the society in 1992. He is an associate editor and reviewer of the Journal of Mining and Geology. He co-chaired many sessions during NMGS annual conferences and he has been involved in the local organizing committee. He presented his research work at Lagos and Ibadan Chapters on numerous occasions. He joined the service of the University of Ibadan in 1995. He is a former Head of Department of Geology, University of Ibadan (2106-2020) and Fellow of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (FNAPE-2017) as well as Fellow of Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society (FNMGS-2019). He is married to Mrs Felicia Ehinola and the marriage is blessed with three children.
